*Release Day Blitz* The Queen by CJ Abedi
In the stunning conclusion to the Fae trilogy, Caroline and Devilyn fight to preserve their love despite dark forces threatening to tear them apart.
As Caroline struggles to accept her rightful place as Queen of the Light Fae, her relationship with Devilyn, son of the Dark King, seems not only doomed, but dangerous. They know their connection is undeniable, but for others, their love is an insidious threat.
Trapped in a plot concocted by the Dark King Alderon and his evil associate, Puck, Caroline must search her history and develop her own powers in order to survive. And as Devilyn’s father appeals to the Dark inside his son, Caroline fears Devilyn will succumb to those Dark instincts before they can defeat Alderon.
Weaving together narratives from Caroline and Devilyn’s pasts as well as their present, The Queen finishes the fight between Light and Dark. Will Caroline and Devilyn’s love outlast the war? And will Caroline live to rule as the Queen of the Light?
The battle between Dark and Light is about to begin.
Caroline Ellis’ sixteenth birthday sets into motion a series of events that have been fated for centuries. A descendant of Virginia Dare, the first child born in the lost colony of Roanoke, and unaware of her birthright as the heir to the throne of the Light Fae, it isn’t until Caroline begins a tumultuous relationship with Devilyn Reilly that the truth of her heritage is revealed.
Devilyn is the only Fae who is both of the Light and of the Dark, and struggles to maintain that precarious balance to avoid succumbing to the power of the Dark within him. He is the only one who can save Caroline from those who would destroy her and destroy all hope for unity among the Fae. He promises Caroline that he will protect her at all costs, even when it means protecting her from himself.
Darkness descends over Roanoke Island in the sequel to the young adult bestseller, FAE.
Devilyn Reilly has crossed over to the sinister world of The Dark Fae, reigning over the realm as its King. He is to fulfill a prophecy–to unite the Light and Dark Fae once and for all, but those who love him now fear that he will never be the same again, that he can no longer be trusted, that every trace of the Light he once had is gone forever.
Caroline Ellis, the final heir of the Light Fae, must learn to survive without the protection of her one true love. She must come to embrace her own strength to evade those in the Dark court who seek her destruction—for the power is within Caroline to use Light to change Fate itself…
Caroline and Devilyn’s chemistry is undeniable. Their destiny together inevitable if only they have the will to overcome The Darkness and The Fates.
I feel like I have been waiting forever for the third and final installment of the Fae series by CJ Abedi but I knew that it is going to be so worth it. I cannot fully put into words my love for this series and its writers Colet and Jasmine. Neither sister failed us as readers with this concluding story of star-crossed love, light and darkness and even heartbreak.
I ran through every emotion with this book from happiness and to sadness, to hate and love. The characters are all just so lovable and in the case of the bad guys, hateable. Puck for one is a character I think I spent a lot of the series just wanting to punch; I wanted to drag him kicking and screaming from the pages and throttle him. Teddy and Rowan are just so likable and I just want to hug them both. Tatiana has her moments where you want to dislike her but in the end she shows true strength that goes against every part of her being as she fights to do the right thing. Even Alderon, the bad guy of the story has a side that few will realise existed beneath all the darkness. That brings me to Devilyn and Caroline, god they both infuriate me but make me love them both at the same time. They want nothing but to protect each other, even if it means hurting themselves. They are the star-crossed lovers of the story, one of Light, and one of Dark (though both Light and Dark run through Devilyn), destined to destroy themselves but will their love overcome the destruction or will they be lost to each other forever.
Sometimes when reading books you find a series that you love everything about and this is one of those for me. I love the story, the characters and settings as well as the writing. I’ve never really been a huge fan of dual perspective books but I don’t think I could imagine this book told any other way. So if you want to explore the world of the Light and Dark Fae, or even just the world of a young girl whose life is turned upside down by forces she never believed could be real and feelings for a boy that transcend all realms then I suggest you read not only The Queen, but the entire Fae series from the beginning and hold on tight for the roller coaster ride!
