Beyond Books Exclusive Spotlight and Giveaway: TL Wainwright

AuthorPicLeeds born and breed. Loves nothing more than curling up with a good ebook. By day export manager by night writer of saucy romances with a tad bit of humour.

Beyond Books: So TL tell us a little bit about yourself?
TL Wainwright: My name is Tracey I’m married with one daughter, two step children all grown up and three grandkids. I’ve lived in Leeds, West Yorkshire all my life. I love being a Brit but adore everything American. I also have a soft spot for Canada although I have yet to visit.

BB: What inspires you?
TL: People who live life to the full with no regrets and no fears. Strength of character.

BB: What are you working on at the moment and what can you tell us about it?
TL: I’m currently working on a short story although it could end up being a novella. A cheeky office romance with sex, humour and plenty of banter. I like my characters to bounce off each other and the female always has to have a slightly cocky bestie. Easy read . Perfect for the sun lounger with a few LOL moments. I hope!

BB: What genres do you write and are there any genres you would like to write?
TL: New Adult/Adult Romance/Comedy. I would love to write something really dark. The type of book that makes the reader question what they would do.

BB: When did you first realise you wanted to become a writer?
TL: Mmm that’s hard because it just sort of happened. I read a lot but early last year I had this story running around in my head. It drove me mad. My hubby told me to write it down. Exorcise it from my brain. So I did. I never intended for anyone to read it but a couple of friends asked if they could. The convinced me to ebook it. I’ve now published 4 books.

BB: What is your favourite book?
TL: So many it’s hard to pick. Two that I read recently stand out to me. 321 by JA Huss and The Revenger by Debra Anastasia. Different to my usual read but both amazingly good.

BB: What is your favourite movie?
TL: These are hard questions. I could give you a list as long as my arm. Can I say Harry Potter then it covers the whole series.

BB: What do you do when you’re not writing?
TL: That’s easy…reading.

BB: Do you have any advice for aspiring writers?
TL: Ignore the negative and grip on to the positive. I didn’t even get my GCSE in English so anything is possible if you put your heart into it.

BB: What book are you reading at the moment?
TL: An ARC – I like to do them too. A Mess Of A Man by AM Hargrove and Terri E Laine duo out later this month (March). Already loving it and not half way yet.

BB: What do you think makes your books stand out from the crowd?
TL: Do they stand out? I’m not sure. They do have some good old Northern humour and the reviews so far quote ‘A breath of fresh air’ they should try shutting the windows when their reading. Hee Hee.

BB: Describe your writing style in ten words or less.
TL: Uncomplicated. Sexy. Funny. Heartwarming. Emotional. Romantic.

BB: Do you have a favourite character in your books?
TL: I love them all but Isaac from my first book will always have my book boyfriend heart.

BB: Tea or coffee? And how do you take it?
TL: Coffee but only a certain one. Splash of milk. None of that cream cack. No sugar my waistline is big enough.

BB: Do you have any pets?
TL: Only the hubby

BB: Who or what has made the biggest influence on your life?
TL: My Parents (who don’t even know about this writing malarkey) The embedded good morals. I think!

BB: If you were invited to the Oscars, who would you take with you?
TL: I could say my hubby but he would be tutting at me eyeing up all the hotties. My best mate Karen.

BB: If you could be any animal what would it be?
TL: Dirty version. Beaver so I got loads of wood. Clean… Butterfly cos there pretty.

BB: Which is the best Chris – Pine, Pratt, Evans or Hemsworth?
TL: All of the above except Evans. Chris Pratt was hot in his leather waisty in Jurassic World.

BB: What are you most looking forward to in 2016?
TL: First visit to New York visit in May. My 25th wedding anniversary in Aug. Edinburgh Rare in July (Helena Hunting and JA Huss are going to be there) and more reading and writing. It’s my therapy.

DeaconWhen Tessa Walker stumbles upon a beat-up lump of muscle in a dark alley, against her better judgement she doesn’t walk away. The obnoxious, foul mouthed, jackass does nothing but piss her off from the get go. It’s not until she cleans up some of the blood and shit from his face while he’s sparked out, that she realises he’s a blast from her past.

‘Jack Deacon, cock of the school, every girl’s wet dream and utter arsehole. He was the most arrogant git all the way through high school, so full of himself he was overflowing, but for some reason everybody loved him. I was no exception.’
He was my secret crush, the one that I compared every other guy to. Nobody ever came anywhere near. Yet here he is, right in front of me, and he doesn’t have a clue.’
“What’s your story?”

After leaving the army, Jack Deacon’s life has gone from shit to bone. Running up debts from gambling, owing money to the wrong people. All in an attempt to dampen down the continuous re-run of events in his head, and the feelings of guilt in his gut. When he wakes up battered and bruised on some chick’s sofa, he knows exactly who she is.

‘Tessa Walker, the specky geek with the bright sparkling eyes the colour of cognac and the most spectacular tits. Oh how I’d fantasised about those tits, taking one in each hand and burying my face right in the middle of them. Many a night I’d wanked with that vision in my head.’
‘I bet she’s wondering what this is all about. It’s none of her business, I ain’t telling her shit.’
But hell! This is just the beginning…
