The Twisted Series: Blog Tour
THE TWISTED SERIES BLOG TOUR
We are delighted to be a part of the blog tour to celebrate the completion of Rebecca’s 4th and final book in her Twisted series.
With intertwining memories and a world of deceit and betrayal yet to be exposed, Survival, book #1 in the Twisted series, is an intense, compelling page-turner, seen through the eyes of Skye ‘the Skillet’ Jones.
With no friends, no family and a life of loneliness ahead, Skye was looking for a reason to fight. To live. To survive. A once happy family was torn apart, leaving a hazy cloud of confusion, abandonment and fear in its wake. Her twin brother, Oliver, was all she had… until the talons of death and the consequences of his dangerous coping mechanism tore his life from him.
Skye was left alone, mourning the loss of her brother and the life he would never live, when Cut Throat Curtis swooped in and taught her to fight; to control her emotional anguish with physical strength. But he was dangerous, a force to be reckoned with. A man with turmoil and secrets of his own. He soon left as quickly as he’d appeared, becoming a ghost in the life she no longer knew.
She had nothing. She had no one.
When all Skye had was her will to survive, fate gave her Thomas. He fought for her, he fought with her and he loved her like no other. But fate was waiting, ready to strike with the force of a hurricane when she thought she had everything she’d ever wanted. It was coming, the cruel twist of fate that would bring Skye to her knees and threaten her survival once more…
“Okay, first lesson. Stance,” Curtis said. We were in Geoff’s gym and I was standing in front of a punchbag. “Don’t stand like a girl.”
He had arranged some sports clothes for me, a pair of black shorts, a white t-shirt and thin-soled lace-up boots.
He shoved a pair of boxing gloves on my hands, black ones. They were lighter than I thought they would be and I flexed my fingers.
I thought I looked the part, but obviously I didn’t. I was standing like a girl. What did that even mean?
“What does a girl stand like?”
“That,” he nodded at me with a hint of a smile. “Weight on one leg, hands on hips. Balance your weight evenly.”
I dropped my arms and stood up straight. Curtis bent down and pulled one foot forward. He stood up and pushed down on my shoulders so my knees bent.
“Bounce.” I raised my eyebrows at him. “You have to be light on your feet. You don’t bounce while you fight, it burns energy, but do it now. Feel how light you need to be.”
I bounced from one foot to the other, “Like this?”
“Just like that,”
I was impressed he kept his eyes on mine, although secretly, I wouldn’t have minded if he lowered his gaze slightly.
“Keep going. Right or left handed?” He grabbed my gloved hands and lifted them up. I nodded to my right hand and he pushed it back. “Dominant hand goes back.”
He pushed the creases of my elbows so my hands came up in front of my face. I liked having his hands on me, but it was hard to focus and take in what he was telling me, and keep bouncing, with him so close.
Curtis took a step back to look at me. His eyes darkened; it was a dangerous look that almost made me stop and kneel before him. What was wrong with him? His eyes had turned to a chocolate storm and his arms came up, folding over his chest. I didn’t know if he was angry; I thought maybe I wasn’t bouncing properly. I concentrated on being light but I felt weighed down by the tension that had consumed him. I saw it, as his eyes moved over every inch of my body, leaving a burning trail that made me feel like marked territory: it was the gloves, the fight. His eyes kept returning to the ominous black leather that my hands were encased in; whatever he was thinking was torturing him. My instincts were telling me to go to him, to comfort him, to clear his mind in whatever way he needed, but as I prepared to go with my instincts, he spoke.
“Once you start, you can’t stop,” he said, his eyes glassed over. “You have to battle on forever. From this moment on, there’s no excuse to give up. You have to believe you can do this before I can teach you how.”
“I’m ready, Curtis,” I breathed as his eyes fell on mine. I held my ground. “I’m ready to fight.”
With explosive suspense and dark sensuality, Revival, book #2 in the Twisted series, is a passionate, riveting tale of power, conflict and dangerous desire, told by Cut Throat Curtis Mason.
I was a failure. An orphan. A quitter. A heartbreaker. A screw-up. A criminal. A monster.
The life I was imprisoned in was the life I deserved.
Beep, beep, beep.
Ollie’s death shredded my tenacity, chipped away at my confidence and stole the will to fight out from under me. When the toxic worthlessness swimming through my veins made me reject the only girl I’d ever loved, she took the rest of my life with her.
Beep, beep, beep.
Alone, away from home and emotionally desolate, I was propelled into a life of greed, control and crime when fate played a hand and forced mine into the clutches of Charlie Alexander Tattersell. My vixen. My poison. My villainous addiction.
Beep, beep, beep.
I fought for and against the life that held me captive, but one painful reminder returned to haunt me.
I was the only one who knew the truth.
Skye’s truth. My love. My driving force. My life’s obsession.
Beep, beep, beep.
After enlisting the help of my protégé, Jesse ‘the Gentleman’ Kennedy, the mission began.
I had to find answers, retribution and the spark that would release me from the claws of the abyss and bring me one step closer to the Skillet.
Beep, beep, beep.
With new secrets waiting around every corner, a vicious Charlie waiting to bury me and the haunting memories of every mistake I’d ever made hanging over me, I missed one vital clue.
The key to my revival…
With everything at stake and nothing to lose, Skye Jones and ‘Cut-throat’ Curtis Mason are reunited in the fight of their lives – once and for all. It’s time to face the demons of the past and the present; to reclaim the powerful, passionate connection that brought them together; and overcome the forces that would tear them apart. It’s time to expose – and destroy – the web of lies, deceit and betrayal woven by those around them to hold them captive, to keep them silent, isolated and alone.
The time has come.
There is no time to fight for survival.
There is no time to beg for revival.
There is no other option. There is no choice.
What happens now?
It’s time to Thrive…
My name is Jesse the Gentleman Kennedy.
Doctor. Fighter. Ghost.
My name is Skye the Skillet Jones.
Murderer. Manipulator. Protector.
My name is Cut Throat Curtis Mason.
Victim. Villain. Monster.
It’s time for us to reunite; to fight one more
battle and claim what should be ours.
Justice. Revenge. Freedom.
Are you prepared to fight with us?
Are you ready to join the Allegiance?
Beyond Books 5 Star Review of Allegiance
Rebecca’s Twisted series has been a roller coaster ride from beginning to end. Imagine The Big One at Blackpool, you climb and climb, the tension building until WHAM!! you’re thrown into a vertical drop that leaves you gasping for breath.
Each book takes you through twists and turns. Not only is the plot twisted but so are the characters. At times you’ll need a psych degree to understand them.
Survival is the story of Skye ‘The Skillet’ Jones and how after she loses everyone important in her life, learns about real love. Revival takes us on a journey with Curtis “Cut throat” Mason and we learn of the twisted life he has lived in his time away from Skye. Thrive brings Cut throat and Skillet back together again but there are no happy endings for this pair. Just when they get breathing room, they learn their friend Jesse ‘The Gentleman’ Kennedy has lost his entire family and is feared to be dead. Allegiance picks up Jesse’s story from that ill fated Christmas Day when he find his parents home ablaze with the family inside. Jesse joins forces with Curtis and Skye to form an allegiance against everyone who ever did wrong against them. Being the last book in the Twisted series, Allegiance needed to tie up some loose ends from the previous books. Rebecca did this with style and of course their demise isn’t straight forward or pretty. Told first from Jesse’s point of view then switching to Skye’s, you get to take a look inside the minds of these damaged people.
Allegiance reveals the Gentleman to be a bit of a softie at heart whereas before I thought he was a bit cocky. It was nice to see this side of him.
Skye is convinced Jesse thinks she’s crazy but the good Dr Kennedy is more observant than she could imagine. A nice unexpected little twist leads Skye to seeking closure with Thomas. As the three get closer to exacting their revenge, the tension builds and in a move that almost gave me a heart attack, Rebecca pulls out the big guns and leaves you saying “NOOO! You did not go there?” But she did and you’ll wonder just how you’ll ever breath again.
Allegiance ties up all those loose ends nicely. If you’ve read the first 3 books you’ll know which unsavoury characters need to get their comeuppance. Do the heroes of The Twisted series get to live happily ever after? You’ll have to read them yourself to find out.
