Niall Leonard to Pen Fifty Shades of Grey Sequel
E.L. James’ husband is set to pen the screenplay for Universal’s Fifty Shades of Grey sequel, Fifty Shades Darker which will see Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan reprise their roles as Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey, with James, Dana Brunetti and Michael De Luca producing.
This will be Leonard’s first time working on a major production having already written scripts for British television shows Wild at Heart and Wire in the Blood. While he works on the script, the studio now sets to work to find a replacement for director Sam Taylor-Johnson who announced last month that she would not be returning to the sequel.
No release date or production start date have yet been set but early next year is most likely.
But desire for Grey still dominates her every waking thought, and when he proposes a new arrangement, she cannot resist. Soon she is learning more about the harrowing past of her damaged, driven and demanding Fifty Shades than she ever thought possible.
But while Grey wrestles with his inner demons, Ana must make the most important decision of her life. And it’s a decision she can only make on her own …
