Miles Teller to Star in and Produce Home Is Burning Adaptation for New Line
New Line has bought the right to the upcoming memoir by Dan Marshall, Home Is Burning. Miles Teller is set to star and produce, with Jonathan Levine (Warm Bodies) to direct the project. Marshall will adapt the story, which is due for publication 20th October for the big screen. This will be Teller’s second time producing after The Life and Times of the Stopwatch Gang was optioned by Universal last month.
The project gained interested from several groups before New Line acquired the rights. The memoir itself has been described as full of wit and humour despite the difficult circumstances.
Home Is Burning recounts Marshall’s move home to help out after his mother faced a cancer relapse and his father was diagnosed with ALS. Marshall was a college grad, living in Los Angeles, when he had to return, reuniting with his four siblings — all colorful characters with life challenges of their own. Together, the siblings form Team Terminal, going to battle against their parents’ illnesses and occasionally each other.
