Author and Screenwriter Anthony Horowitz to Pen New BBC Drama New Blood
He’s well known for his work on drama ‘Foyles War’ but now author and screenwriter Anthony Horowitz is to pen a new BBC crime drama called ‘New Blood.
The series will consist of seven episodes and be set in modern day London and the drama is focused on Stefan and Rash, two junior detectives just starting out on their careers in the city, whose investigations see them in conflict with the establishment.
Horowitz spoke about his new project now ‘Foyles War’ has ended.
“For a long time I’ve been wondering how to take a fresh approach to crime drama and I hope that with New Blood I’ve succeeded,” Horowitz said.
“This is a show about the so-called Y generation – young people starting out in their careers, the powerless against the powerful. It’s so refreshing to be writing about two central characters who are still in their late twenties and 21st century London is the perfect setting. [BBC Drama Controller] Ben Stephenson has been hugely supportive and I’m delighted to be back at the BBC.”
The series will be by Foyle’s War producers Eleventh Hour Films, and will be the first BBC drama for the company. Watch this space for casting news!
