Waterstones Signings for February!
January was a long month wasn’t it! But here comes February and a whole new month of Waterstones book signings so lets see what’s near you! Keep an eye out for big Harry Potter celebrations!
Sunday 1st February
The Moomins are 70 this year! Come and join in the fun for free!
Monday 2nd February
An Evening with Deliciously Ella – Awesome Ingredients, Incredible Food That You And Your Body Will Love.

Tickets are £5, £3 for cardholders and available in store.
Healthy food blogger Ella Woodward will be speaking about her new cookbook Deliciously Ella, followed by an audience Q&A.
Tuesday 3rd February
Come and meet celebrated author Amit Chaudhuri whose new novel Odysseus Abroad is a bold and witty contemporary reworking of Joyce and Homer set in Thatcher’s Britain.
Wednesday 4th February
Australian author and bookseller Brooke will be visiting the store on her busman’s holiday tour to promote her book. She’ll be looking forward to greeting customers and talking to them about books and being a published author. If you like a quirky book, then this is for you!
Book Launch – Michael J Malone. Beyond the Rage
Join Waterstones for the launch of Glasgow’s newest crime thriller Beyond the Rage. Michael J. Malone will be in conversation with the lovely Caro Ramsay.
Thursday 5th February
Come to Harry Potter Book Day, an all day drop-in event to celebrate the brilliance of the Potterverse! Open to all, this event will feature prize draws, quizzes, a Horcrux-finding scavenger hunt and the chance to dress up and have your photo taken with Harry! Visit our Diagon Alley themed children’s section on the day or ask any bookseller for more information. – Waterstones Gower Street.
Witches, Wizards and Muggles; you are cordially invited to attend our Harry Potter Book Night celebration. We will be running various activities from Thursday 5th through to Sunday 8th February and special treats are planned. Dress Code: Wizarding robes, Harry Potter fancy dress, or your best muggle attire. – Waterstones Bluewater.
Join us as we celebrate the first ever Harry Potter Book Night. Pick up a flyer in the shop for more details. At 3.30pm attend a Potions Lesson given by magical supply teacher Professor Winky Goyle. Followed by a reading of your choice! This event is aimed at 9 -11 yrs but all ages are welcome. At 7pm The Harry Potter Quiz Night – suitable for fans of all ages. Please come dressed up in your favourite Harry Potter costumes as there will be prizes for the best dressed at all these events. – Waterstones Oxford.
Come dressed as your favourite character and join us for an exciting evening, celebrating the wonder of Harry Potter! We will have a quiz, reading and refreshments. Please bring along a sleeping bag and torch and you can snuggle down to read part of your favourite book. – Waterstones Cheltenham

Waterstones in Birmingham are delighted to be hosting a Q&A with Samantha Shannon, author of the best selling novel The Bone Season. The much anticipated sequel, The Mime Order, see’s Paige Mahoney having escaped the brutal prison camp of Sheol I, but her problems have only just begun: many of the survivors are missing and she is the most wanted person in London…Samantha will sign copies of her books following the talk.

Meet the Author Nick Hunt – Walking the Woods and the Water: In The Footsteps of Patrick Leigh Fermor from the Hook of Holland to the Golden Horn.

In 1933, the eighteen year old Patrick Leigh Fermor set out in a pair of hobnailed boots to chance and charm his way across Europe, ‘like a tramp, a pilgrim or a wandering scholar’. The books he later wrote about this walk are a half-remembered, half-reimagined journey through cultures now extinct, landscapes irrevocably altered by the traumas of the twentieth century. Aged eighteen, Nick Hunt read A Time of Gifts and dreamed of following in Fermor’s footsteps. Come and hear how he eventually achieved this dream.

Waterstones are delighted to be hosting the launch for The Exit, Helen Fitzgerald’s latest psychological thriller. Waterstones are delighted to welcome Pam St Clement as she signs copies of her new biography which reveals the woman behind the popular EastEnders’ character, Pat Butcher, a woman who, apart perhaps from her earrings, couldn’t be more different from Pat. Meet Pam and find out more about her fascinating life.
Saturday 14th February
Meet the Master of Horror, Darren Shan, as he joins the store to sign copies of his latest book in the Zom-B series, Zom-B Bride.

Local author and extraordinary lady Prue Phillipson will be at Waterstones at 11.00am on Saturday 21st February to sign copies of her latest book. Set in the Highlands during the Clearance and then in Northumberland, it is the story of two babies who were saved from a ship wreck by Rory-Beag, a young Scotsman who can’t talk, the babies subsequent removal to Northumberland into the folds of a well-to-do family, and Rory’s desperate attempts to be reunited with the babies. A poignant and endearing tale.

2015 Costa prize winner Helen Macdonald will talk for an hour about her extraordinary book H is for Hawk at the opening event of this years Spring Festival. The lecture will be followed by a book signing at the campus Waterstones store from 8.00.
Thursday 26th February
Please join Waterstones as they celebrate the launch of local author Maggie Ritchie’s debut novel Paris Kiss. Bohemian Paris in the 1880s. Exotic, strange and exciting, especially to young English sculptor Jessie Lipscomb, who joins her friend Camille to become a protégée of the great Auguste Rodin.
Saturday 28th February
Joanna’s book is a hard hitting look at our cultural expectations of beauty, told through the prism of her own experience with childhood facial deformity. Joanna is an Anglican priest and the first chaplain of the London College of Fashion, and is now based in Wells. Joanna will be launching her book in store with a short reading, Q&A, signing and a glass of wine. Event is not ticketed. Please be advised that seating will not be provided.
