J. Michael Straczynski To Write Spike TV’s ‘Red Mars’ Drama
Creator of ‘Babylon 5’, J. Michael Staczynski is said to be on board to write ‘Red Mars’, the drama scripted project by Spike TV based on Kim Stanley Robinson’s best-sellingscience-fiction trilogy about the colonization and terraforming transformation of Mars into a place where humans can live sustainably.
The TV adaptation which is named after the first book in the trilogy, has been on fast-track development at Spike since the network took in the project in October with Game Of Thrones co-executive producer Vince Gerardis as producer and Robinson as consultant.
There are three books in the series, Red Mars, Green Mars and Blue Mars and you can find them on Amazon. The books have won prizes including Nebula and Hugo Awards and are said to be the Holy Grail book for sci-fi fans!
Mars – the barren, forbidding planet that epitomises mankind’s dreams of space conquest.
From the first pioneers who looked back at Earth and saw a small blue star, to the first colonists – hand-picked scientists with the skills necessary to create life from cold desert – Red Mars is the story of a new genesis. It is also the story of how Man must struggle against his own self-destructive mechanisms to achieve his dreams: before he even sets foot on the red planet, factions are forming, tensions are rising and violence is brewing … for civilization can be very uncivilized.
