Fifty Shades of Grey – Photos, Fingers, Skin, Flesh Coloured Little Bags and More

10885278_10153109050557625_6373030637539231201_nYou can’t switch on your computer or pick up a magazine without seeing photos of Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson splashed all over them lately. Even our TV screens are not immune with trailers for the upcomming movie being shown in late night spots. Love it or hate it, Fifty Shades is here to stay. Whether you have been onboard from the get go, when the author formerly known in the Twilight fandom as SnowqueenIcedragon was writing her little fan fiction, or you jumped in when the first book was published 4 years ago, you will still be intrigued as to how the movie will turn out. The movie which sees it’s release on 13th February in the UK, is still to receive an official certification from the BFCC but most cinema chains are advertising it as an 18 tbc while in the US it will be an R for ‘unusual behaviour’. There have been a number of good interviews with Jamie aka Christian Grey plus an insightful one with director Sam Taylor-Johnson but very little from Dakota Johnson. Here are a few of our favourites quotes from various interviews along with a few of the many photographs included in the magazines plus some from last nights Golden Globes. We’ll finish with the most recent titilating teaser trailer released yesterday!

In GQ UK, Jamie says how trainspotting is weirder than S&M –

On his character in Fifty Shades of Grey
“In the course of researching this character, I have seen the reality very closely. I can tell you from an alarmingly first-hand perspective it’s not altogether sexy. But I’ve been in a dungeon with a lukewarm beer while a dominant has had some fun with his submissive and it was very playful and jovial and not at all dark and serious. There was a lot of laughter…”

On filming the sex scenes
“Your dignity is intact as much as it’s all tucked away in a little flesh-coloured bag… As a guy you put all your essentials in a little bag and you tie it up like a little bag of grapes and it’s tucked away. Its quite a peculiar thing to do every day.”

On S&M
“I’m an extremely liberal person, I don’t give a f***. If people are into that they’re into that. By the way, if people make such a hoo-hah about the violence against women aspect of it, it’s far more common for men to be the submissive. And it’s consensual! There’s weirder shit than that. I think plane spotting is far weirder than S&M. That I really don’t get. I can understand why people are into S&M, but standing outside Heathrow Terminal 5 waiting for Ryanair to come in?”

Sam Taylor-Johson describes how they used ‘flesh, fingers and skin’ in Vanity Fair.

The film’s director, Sam Taylor-Johnson, tells Grigoriadis the sex is tastefully handled: “It’s details, flesh and fingers and skin and eyes and looks.” She tells Grigoriadis that if you saw the actual sex, “the mystery would be gone. You see a lot, but you don’t have to see anything graphic.”

Still, viewers may find the scenes more scintillating with eyes closed: “It was a closed set, and so we couldn’t be there for those very intimate scenes…but so much of the movie turns on those intimate scenes,” one of the film’s producers, Michael De Luca, tells Grigoriadis. “We’d be in our trailers, but [the actors] were miked, and we had cans—you know, headphones—but I actually got shy from listening. There was something about not being there and having the audio that made us feel like peeping listeners, and so we all put them down.”

In February edition of Elle UK Jamie said –

“The love story is more important than the BDSM aspect. I mean, we are going to tell a love story, you know, it can’t just be what happens in the Red Room, that’s not a film. There’s so much more going on than that.”
