Elf The Musical is Heading to London This Year
Elf the Musical, inspired by the 2003 Christmas comedy starring Will Ferrell has been turned in to a full blown musical and is heading to the Dominion theatre in London in Autumn 2015.
The movie inspired a 2010 Broadway musical with music by Matthew Sklar and Chad Beguelin. The award-winning musical ran on Broadway in the Christmas seasons of 2010-11 and 2012-13, and also toured the U.S. in 2012 and 2014.
Shows were treated to a special sneak preview of Elf the Musical in Dublin at the spectacular Bord Gáis Energy Theatre on Grand Canal Square and got to met the brilliant cast after the show, including Buddy the Elf himself, played by Ben Forster who starred as the lead in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s rock opera Jesus Christ Superstar in 2012.
Elf the Musical is narrated by Santa Claus, the story tells how William “Buddy” Hobbs, a young orphan child, mistakenly crawled into Santa’s bag of gifts years ago and was transported back to the North Pole, where he is raised as one of Santa’s elves. Buddy eventually learns of his true identity as a human, much to his dismay, but in true Elf attitude, he decides to make the best of the situation and goes to New York City to meet his biological father, spreading Christmas cheer in a world of cynics as he goes.
