Syfy’s Adaptation of Childhood’s End Adds New Cast
Childhood’s End is set to add Julian McMahon (Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer) and Daisy Betts (Shutter) to its cast for the six hour mini-series. McMahon has been cast as Rupert Boyce, an enigmatic American entrepreneur; while Betts will play Ellie, an arts graduate engaged to marry Ricky Stormgren, the most influential human in the world.
Adapted for television by Life On Mars creator Matthew Graham, Childhood’s End follows the peaceful alien invasion of Earth by the mysterious “Overlords,” whose arrival begins decades of apparent utopia under indirect alien rule, at the cost of human identity and culture.
The duo are the latest actors to board the Universal Cable Productions mini, which starts filming in Australia next year. The cast also includes Charles Dance (Game of Thrones), Mike Vogel (Bates Motel), Ashley Zukerman (Manhattan), Osy Ikhile (Clap!) and Yael Stone (Orange is the New Black).
