Bill Murray to Sing The Bare Necessities in Disney’s New Jungle Book Movie
Bill Murray will be singing The Bare Necessities in Disney’s new adaptation of The Jungle Book director Jon Favreau (Iron Man 3) has revealed. The new adaptation of Rudyard Kipling’s classic tales won’t be a musical but director Favreau has said that he has tried ‘to work in the more memorable moments’ from Disney’s classic 1967 animated version of The Jungle Book, including Baloo and Mowgli’s much-loved rendition of The Bare Necessities.
When asked if this means Murray will take on the classic song which has been covered by artists as diverse as Brian Wilson, Bowling for Soup and Julie Andrews, Favreau replied in the affirmative saying: “How do you not do that?”
Ten-year-old newcomer Neel Sethi will be the film’s only live-action actor, playing Mowgli alongside a menagerie of performance capture animals voiced by Murray (Baloo the bear), Idris Elba (villainous tiger Shere Kahn), Lupita N’yongo (mother wolf Rakcha), Christopher Walken (ape King Louis), Scarlett Johansson (python Kaa) and Ben Kingsley (black panther Bagheera).
