Laters? No, Mr Grey Will See You Now: Fifty Shades of Grey TRAILER!
After months of waiting, baited breaths, gasps and anticipation, it’s finally here. Fifty Shades of Grey’s first trailer!
We posted a short teaser on the UK Twilight Facebook earlier in the week, where we got to hear Mr Christian Grey’s voice for the first time – and we’re all in agreement that even though we didn’t get to see him speak, the sound alone was enough to make us fall in love for Fifty all over again.
So here is the moment you’ve all been waiting for. Sit back, turn up the volume and enjoy.
For those of you who have either been living under a rock for the last couple of years, or just don’t quite “get” the FSoG obsession, or wonder why we post about it here at UKT, here goes…
Several years ago, not long after the epic success of the Twilight books and first film, a British fan and fan fiction writer penned a little story starring Bella and Edward called “Master of the Universe” – or well known within the Twilight Fan Fiction community simply as MoTU or Fifty. very quickly it got a huge following, boasting hundreds of thousands of views and over forty thousand reviews over a few different fan fiction networks.
As readers of Fan fiction here at UKT, MoTU wasn’t the first with such content. The characters had been put into similar situations in other stories – that’s what fan fiction allows authors to do – take the characters out of their comfort zone or even step entirely out of character rather than sticking with the original – or what we call “the canon”.
Why was it so popular? Honestly, I don’t know. We read the original fan fiction when it was getting updated weekly. It was picked up for publishing originally by The Writers Coffee Shop Library publishing house – which funnily enough also run a fan fiction and original fiction site where you can post your own stories.
It was an instant hit in the US and less than a year later was climbing the book charts worldwide. Then Universal picks up the trilogy and gets the movie deal. Millions of fans can’t be wrong, and we are hoping the film is going to be as loved as the books.
Fifty Shades of Grey premieres in the UK in time for Valentines Day 2015.
