The Hobbit Fan Event: London!
Last night, on November 4th, The Hobbit fan event was held in London Leicester Square’s West End Odeon!
Four different participating cinemas (Odeon West End included!) were linked via satellite to live stream a Q&A between London, New York, Los Angeles and Wellington. Joining us in London were Lee Pace (Thranduil), Luke Evans (Bard the Bowman) and Andy Serkis (Gollum)! Through satellite in New York were Orlando Bloom (Legolas) and Richard Armitage (Thorin Oakenshield), in Los Angeles was Evangeline Lilly (Tauriel) and in Wellington, New Zealand, Jed Brophy (Nori) and director Peter Jackson.
In the foyer, on the way into the cinema, were three costumes, of Dwalin, Bilbo and Gandolf, from the film! There was also a photographer with a green screen where you could have your photograph taken, posed with swords and be transported into the world of the Hobbit!
The lucky fans who were able to go, each received a goody bag on their chair containing a Hobbit Fan Event t-shirt, a banner poster, a limited edition Empire magazine, a Hobbit popcorn bucket and Hobbit cup and some sweets!
After the live stream Q&A, which was also streamed online for fans around the world to see; we were then cut off from the outside world and shown a premiere of the end credit song written by Ed Sheeran called ‘I See Fire’- which was a beautiful! We were then lucky enough to be shown twenty minutes of unseen footage from the new Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug!
Peter Jackson selected each scene that was shown to us and said, “This wasn’t meant to be twenty minutes of footage, but this is between me and you guys.”
The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug reaches cinemas on December 13th!
