First Look at The Host!

For those of you eagerly awaiting news on The Host you will be glad to learn that it began filming Monday the 13th of February, 2012, in locations such as Louisiana and New Mexico.  Stephenie Meyer serves as a producer on the movie.  Unfortunately it looks like it is just over a year away from its release of March 29th, 2013.  🙁  BUT below is your first look at the teaser trailer for it!

A little bit of trivia on the trailer:  A contest was held for The Host fans to be included in the teaser trailer.  Six were chosen from among the entrants and their faces were included in the teaser, although not quite the same as they would see themselves in the mirror – their eyes were enhanced with the silver effect seen on the book cover to signify alien soul-inhabited humans!

For those of you unfamiliar with the story here is the synopsis care of HeyUGuys.co.uk via Waterstones

“Melanie Stryder refuses to fade away. The earth has been invaded by a species that takes over the minds of their human hosts while leaving their bodies intact, and most of humanity has succumbed. Wanderer, the invading ‘soul’ who has been given Melanie’s body, knew about the challenges of living inside a human: the overwhelming emotions, the too-vivid memories. But there was one difficulty Wanderer didn’t expect: the former tenant of her body refusing to relinquish possession of her mind. Melanie fills Wanderer’s thoughts with visions of the man Melanie loves – Jared, a human who still lives in hiding. Unable to separate herself from her body’s desires, Wanderer yearns for a man she’s never met. As outside forces make Wanderer and Melanie unwilling allies, they set off to search for the man they both love.”

Saoirse Ronan (Atonement, The Lovely Bones) leads the cast which also includes Jake Abel (I Am Number Four), Max Irons (Red Riding Hood), William Hurt, Diane Kruger and Chandler Canterbury.

As mentioned before the current scheduled release date looks like March 29th, 2013, but who knows, it could change as that seems a long way away!  Also surfacing online recently are some stills from the movie.
